Muscoloskeletal System- Bones


I. Division of the skeletal system:
  1. The axial bones are lined up vertically for support. They are parallel to the center of gravity;
  2.  Appendicular bones  are mainly limbs and girdles that attach limbs to the axial system;
  3. There are 206 named bones, ranging from enormous bones, such as the pelvis and the femur, to the tiny ossicles of the inner ear;







II. Primary functions of the skeleton system:
  1. Movement, in conjunction with muscular attachments;
  2. Support of the body;
  3. Physical protection of internal organs 
  4. Production of blood cells
